We are seeking proposals for our professional development institute that focus on the following themes:
- Recent developments in federal, state and local policy that impact education, workforce development and welfare systems ability to provide support for education, training and employment; and ways advocates can influence these policies.
- Effective models for improving job placement and retention for youth and/or adults with multiple barriers to employment.
- Building sectoral initiatives and other collaborative partnerships, particularly with employers, but also with community-based organizations, educational institutions, or government agencies to leverage resources and support career and technical education and workforce development efforts.
- We are especially interested in partnerships resulting in job placement or with job placement as a key focus.
Successful strategies for improving the transition from secondary to postsecondary education for special population students. Strategies that encourage pursuit of vocational credentials, industry or career certifications, or other formal, widely accepted recognitions of specific skills valued by employers.
