Call for Proposals

Call for ProposalsThe National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE) and Women Work! The National Network for Women's Employment are currently accepting proposals for our 2009 Professional Development Institute, Partners on the Path to Equity, to be held March 29-April 1, 2009 in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

We are seeking proposals for our professional development institute that focus on the following themes:
  • Recent developments in federal, state and local policy that impact education, workforce development and welfare systems ability to provide support for education, training and employment; and ways advocates can influence these policies.
  • Effective models for improving job placement and retention for youth and/or adults with multiple barriers to employment.
  • Building sectoral initiatives and other collaborative partnerships, particularly with employers, but also with community-based organizations, educational institutions, or government agencies to leverage resources and support career and technical education and workforce development efforts.
  • We are especially interested in partnerships resulting in job placement or with job placement as a key focus.
Implementing strategies for recruitment and retention of individuals in nontraditional careers, especially girls and women into science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields at the secondary and/or postsecondary level.

Successful strategies for improving the transition from secondary to postsecondary education for special population students. Strategies that encourage pursuit of vocational credentials, industry or career certifications, or other formal, widely accepted recognitions of specific skills valued by employers.

Kaliedscope Award

Any OkACTE member is eligible to apply for the Kaliedscope Award. The applications are due to OkACTE by April 30th.

Diversity Action Committe

Committee Representatives from each division were invited to attend the first meeting of the 2008-2009 year to review goals and set a plan of action for this year. The committee has reviewed the Kaliedscope Award guidelines and will explore opportunities to promote diversity to different populations.
